Sepaton has made known that Interstate Hotels & Resorts has installed its Virtual Tape Library (VTL), the S2100-ES2, to backup and restore critical financial data. The deployment of the S2100-ES2 follows Interstate Hotels & Resorts’ previous investment in Sepaton’s VTL for remote offices and Small and Medium size Businesses (SMBs), Sepaton said in a statement.
The Sepaton I/O Subsystem handles I/O (input-output) in kernel space for maximum performance, the company said. Scalable Replication Engine (SRE) nodes each provide two Fibre Channel (FC) communication paths into the backup environment and high-end processing and memory subsystems, it added.
Interstate Hotels & Resorts’ IT infrastructure is made up mainly of servers running software from Microsoft, along with an IBM AIX system that supports its Lawson-based financial applications and its Oracle database, according to Sepaton of Marlborough, Massachusetts.
Since deploying the S2100-ES2, Interstate Hotels & Resorts has been able to carry out restores, without needing to rely on offsite tapes and the time delay associated with retrieving them, Sepaton said.
The addition of more capacity with the ES2 has enabled the company to exceed Sarbanes Oxley requirements by retaining four weeks of data onsite and off, Interstate Hotels & Resorts said.
