Data is the lifeblood of any organisation. Tons of data is generated everyday and companies need each part of that data at any point. Now according to IDC, storage software is gaining much ground in today's marketplace as more and more users demand secure, convenient ways to backup their data. IDC says that the storage software market is indeed continuing on with its growth momentum into 2007. As more and more businesses look to archiving and backing up data as well as for solutions that better store their information, the storage software market has potential to continue its growth. To uncover the top 5 vendors in worldwide storage software revenues for the first quarter of 2007, IDC utilised their Worldwide Storage Software Tracker, a quantitative tool for analysing the market, and uncovered for the 14th consecutive quarter, year-over-year growth revenues of USD 2.7 billion—an 11.4 per cent increase over the same quarter one year ago. Coming in at the top of this list is EMC, who had growth of 25.1 per cent. Just behind EMC was Symantec with 17.7 per cent revenue share. Taking the third place is IBM, followed by Network Appliance with 10 per cent in revenues share and CA and HP, who both tied position five-- earning a 4.4 per cent revenue share. |
