Numonyx B.V., a memory company today established its Global Distribution Centre in Singapore to support supply chain processes within the Asian region.
“The new centre of logistics excellence will provide Numonyx significant supply chain efficiencies that will enhance our business competitiveness. Our back-end manufacturing sites, as well as large number of our customers and subcontractors, are based in Asia,” said Mathieu Clerkx, Senior Vice President, General Manager for Global Infrastructure, Numonyx.
The Switzerland headquartered company said Singapore was selected for its central location, strong logistics infrastructure, excellent connectivity to global airports and its stable and progressive political environment.
“Locating our global distribution centre in this region will help us achieve faster time to market, which is critical for our customers,” said Clerkx.
Numonyx also shared plans to outsource its logistics activities to DHL International who will manage all related inbound and outbound traffic of finished goods allowing Numonyx to concentrate on its core competency of developing and manufacturing memory technologies.
“The semiconductor industry is heavily reliant on its global supply chain. It is estimated that a single semiconductor travels up to 40,000 kilometres during its production process before being shipped to the end-customer,” said Clerkx.
“…By outsourcing the logistics component to DHL, we are able to accelerate internal optimization and supply chain re-engineering. We are also able to focus on our core manufacturing business and at the same, create a differentiated menu of services to cater to the requirements for our customers in the various market segments." |
